So I have been learning how to build backlinks to my sites. What that means is this: For Google or any other Search Engine wants to know whether there are other sites that link to you site. Let me explain: You got to CNN.com and you see a link and when you click on the link you get to the other site. That other site has a backlink from CNN.com. Why this is important? Well the more backlinks your site has the more Google thinks you are worth of being on the top of the search page. The best way I read this explained is that landing on the first page is a popularity contest and the backlinks tell Google how popular you are. Now don’t get me wrong this is not the only thing that gets you ranked. There are a ton of other things and I will cover them as we move a long. But these days that is what I am working on so that is what I am writing about.
Here are the methods I found that I am starting to try:
1- Write an expert article on your subject matter and submit to Article Directories.
What is an Article Directory? Well the best way to explain this is to send yo to an Article Directory. One of the biggest and the baddest is Ezinearticles.com. Warning if you go there you are going to think it is a cheesy looking site but beware it is really something. Try it out. Put in a subject you want to read about in ther search box and read some of the articles. Put in something else… you will be amazed how much they have about any subject you can think about.
So you write an article submit it to them and if yes “if” they publish you then you get to have a link back from their site to your site. This is big why? Well it is only one backlink if you just started but it a backlink from a great site… what is called a trusted site by Google. You see not all backlinks are equal, based on the trustworthines of the site the weight of the backling in your ranking gets higher. So how trusted is ezinearticles.com. In the image you see a PR:6. That is called a page rank and it is from 0 to 10. What has 10… Google.com has 10 and I personaly don’t know any other 10. So a backlink from ezinearticles.com which has a PR:6 is a very valuable link to your site. But notic as well.
Now you need to submit more and more articles to more and more directories and over time you will have a lot of backlinks built. This site you are on only has a few but I am not looking to be on the first page of Google I am building my clients word off mouth and if they are coming to this site they are coming because they hear from someone or someone told someone.
I am studying automated article submissions. There are online services and software you can buy to submit your articles in autopilot but I am a bit suspicious of this… I think there needs to be a pace with which you submit articles. If not Google might not like you and put you in their sand box (more on that later, I am still learning).
Lets continue.
2- Build up your Blogroll.
This is also valuable as you will search in Google for sites that have similar interests as you and ask them to do a link exchange in their blogroll. Blogroll is a generic name for this. People give these things on their sites different names. Lot of them leave the name “Blogroll” alone but as you can see from the example I got from some site on the web, this person calls his/her blogroll “Skeptical Blogs.” And links his/her site to theirs and I am sure they backlinks on the sites back. So in this example this site has 8 backlinks from the blogroll.
I think this is the best way to build good quality links. Because you can check for how trusted these sites are and how relevant their content is to yours. For example I am trying to build a blogroll for thebestdeerrepellent.com site. I am looking at people who have high quality blogs and are trusted. There is a way to check how trusted they are. I will put a post on that later. I am going to ask for backlinks every week. Every week a few as a ritual will turn into a lot of back links over time. I don’t expect to be accepted by all my requests as a matter of fact I expect very little. For each of my sites I am going to have a post that I will update you can follow my success or failure there.
Finally… I am convinced link building is a long lasting… never ending thing. I read in some expert linkbuilders video this: ” If you are sitting down and wondering what you should do next with your site…. the answer is build links
” Nice…
